SEMINAR ON E-COMMERCE AND INTERNET MARKETING ESSENTIALS AND STRATEGIES

Marketing Department hosted a seminar on E-Commerce and Internet Marketing Essentials and Strategies last September 24, 2014. It was a whole day seminar, the topics are:

*      Doing E-Business in the ASEAN Community

*      E-Commerce on the Go: Its Process and Application
*      Web Advertising through Social Media Marketing
*      Careers in Digital Media

There is one thing I can’t forget in the seminar. That was when Mr. Munjo Khan said, “It’s okay to spend money registering than having it free, because FREE is Problem.”Then, I realize! There’s no such thing as free. Having a free website has many risk, he said.

Another thing, when Prof. Archie Lemuel Clark Velasco has his topic about Doing E-Business in the ASEAN Community. When he teaches us about searcheable catalogs, Customer Support Page Secure checkout and the FAQ which means frequently ask questions.

And I learn from him that this credit cards, pay pal, etc. are called online moneys. Which is only a little portion of the total population in the country have this type of money.

He also shows the three ways to build your site:

1.       Through Professional Web – a website that has payment.

2.       Through Content Management System (CMS), example www.weebly.com
3.       Online Market Places – like Lazada.com, Sulit.com, Alibaba.com

I also learned the simple meaning of Social Media Marketing that was being shown by Ms. Charmaine Xy-za O. Yape.Social Media Marketing is “people having conversation online about products/services with the objective to gain profit.

It is so amazing to work while you can do all the stuffs you want to do with the internet. This will happen when you have career in the digital media. You can be a virtual secretary, social media manager, project manager, article writer, web graphic designer, and many more. But before you enter this type of career you should be aware of the advantages and disadvantages.

Advantage:

*      Flexibility in terms of work hours, break time, location, temperature, lightning, music, etc.
**      Do other things you enjoy while working
*      Maximize your time to earn money
*      Save on many hidden cost associated with going to work, like commuting, wardrobe, childcare, etc.
*      Less stress
*      Better health, better work/life balance.

Disadvantage:

*      Distractions
*      Isolation – limited people around you
*      No help/support (from IT personnel)
*      Job security
*      Scammed
*      Usually no employment benefit
*      Need for high self-discipline

The lecture was very helpful for us students taking up BSBA Entrepreneurial Marketing.

Lastly I want to tell you who is the Master of Ceremony.It’s me, Mary Grace Salarda. It was really an awesome experience and a lesson also to be learned. I help me a lot. I manage my stage fright.

My Journey In MSU

Not all individuals has an opportunity to study. Education is for free but with the very high rate of poverty in the country, EDUCATION is now a privilege. It is a benefit that is not available for anyone.
It is a big opportunity to study at Mindanao State University – Main Campus at Marawi City, Lanao del Sur. Almost all people would say that. Why? Well, it is a STATE UNIVERSITY, a very well-known school that has many outstanding students, and has the lowest tuition ever in the entire MINDANAO! Wait there’s more, when you get to enter the university and perform well in your academics, you will not pay anymore tuition fee. Your academic status will be tuition privilege and it’s a very big pride. Imagine that? It offers lowest tuition fee and then with your hard work you will not pay anymore tuition fees. It’s like your studying for FREE. WOW so AMAZING!
Let’s take a JOURNEY…
I am a student in Mindanao State University – Main Campus, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur. I am taking up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Entrepreneurial Marketing. I am now a 4th year student and it is also my 4th year to stay at the university. I came from Triangulo, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, I am approximately 163 miles away from home.

As a student I did not only STUDY! STUDY! STUDY! I also do FUN.
The university is situated at the mountain peak and the weather is really nice. The wind is so cold and the view is so wonderful. If you want to relax then you can go to places like GOLF COURSE
 (from left to right: Wen2x, Rujet and Me)

 (with my Surigaonon Roommates: Bb Jeny, Leah, Leizl, Seizy, Ling2x, Che2x and Shane)

Or at MARAWI RESORT HOTEL (we also call it AYALA)

 (I’m with Rujet, Jenifer, Tomo Mitch, Mare Arcevie, Wen2x and Harold took the photo)

   (This time was my first step in Ayala, with my roommates and neighbors, it was last April 25, 2011)

When exams are done, me and my roommates dine together at JECOs
 (Disregard the date on the photo, the camera date was not adjusted, hehehehe J)

It was really fun, wandering around with friends. Having a great time after being exhausted with so many requirements and a very earth-shaking and mind-blowing exams.

When I reach 3rd year, I thought it will be a serious year. Why? Because I became a Vice President in our Batch and I am having two majors (advertising and Product Identification and Evaluation) and that year I work while studying, I am a student Assistant (SA) of a professor.
But it didn’t work that way. My co-majors which is also my friends and we call our group as BOGS Family meaning “Because Of Group Study we became a Family”.
We enjoy the 2013 Intramurals

 (from left to right: Sherl, Vanica, Ana, Jenifer, Me, Xtelle, Mitch, Harold, Aldwin, Man2x, Christine, Seth and Lee)

And we stayed at the grandstand up to 12:00 midnight just to welcome September 1, the MSU Foundation Day. Of course we’re not the only group there. There are many because there will be a fireworks display.

 (Hey, Nesly, Jona and Dokie was there also ;)…)

When the morning comes, we hosted the Padian Games
(Now, the date was correct! SEPTEMBER 1, 2013, these were the 3rd Year Entrepreneurial Marketing Students)

Recently in my 4th year stay, I really had a great journey with all the birthday parties being celebrated. On Sir Aldrich birthday we went to Dairy Farm.

   (this was Sir Richards idea and I got to step at dairy Farm FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME)
Next to that Birthday was MINE!

I celebrated it at the World Class Room 2, a dream came true to celebrate a birthday at a class room. Because in the Philippine Calendar June 12 is always a HOLIDAY. But these guys made my dream came true.
(BOGS Family, Sir Richard and Sir Peepo and Jema Officers)

After that there are many birthdays came to pass. Sir Nash , then, Jenie Rose, then here comes Lees’ birthday and Sir Richards birthday, He thinks we just chill there in the corner but actually we’re not. Be cover videos of individuals who is close to him and we are pretty sure he will be surprise.
After that, I spend most of my time from Cottage to College of Business Administration. It was just a little part in the area of MSU but I had a great student journey there (well currently having a journey now)

Got to go… I got to enter the room… I’m LATE ;)

...GRACIA here :)

MS. BACKLESS

What more can I say. This Marketing day celebration was the BEST I had ever experienced in my four (4) year existence in the Marketing Department.
Me, being an Executive Vice President of the Junior Entrepreneurial Marketing Association did not fell back aching, drained and whatever.
All I felt was SUCCESS, two thumbs up with our performance and another two thumbs up with the guidance of our organization adviser and department chairperson, Prof. Richard S. Celeste, MBM.
